About Francisco Martinez MD

Dr. Francisco Martinez was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. He attended school in the United States briefly during his youth but completed secondary school in Puerto Rico. He later studied at both the University of Puerto Rico and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, where he graduated with his medical degree in 1985.

In pursuit of his dream of becoming a pediatrician, Francisco returned to New York where he was accepted into the Pediatric Residency Program at the Flushing Hospital Medical Center. Following the completion of his residency, Francisco joined Dr. Jesus Pichardo Pediatrics Center, working for ten years to serve the youth populations of Queens and Brooklyn.

In 2004, having discovered a shortage in the number of Spanish-speaking pediatricians attending to the Hispanic population of Long Island, Francisco decided to open his own pediatric practice in Freeport. In the years since he has expanded, hiring two more doctors to help serve Long Island’s youth. His practice also serves as a teaching facility for second-year residents at Hofstra’s North Shore – LIJ School of Medicine, as well as for the residents of the South Nassau Community Hospital’s Family Practice residency program.
